Ruffin– Colleton County School District teacher Bonnie Hunt has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Palmetto State Teachers Association Classroom Grant. This is the fourth year of the PSTA classroom grants created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members program. The grants are awarded annually to encourage and support PSTA members as they serve students across our state.
Ms. Hunt is an elementary school interventionist at Bells Elementary School. This grant will fund high-interest, leveled texts, multisensory phonics tools, and interactive literacy resources to better meet the diverse needs of my students. According to Ms. Hunt, “These materials will enhance small-group instruction, support differentiated learning, and increase student confidence and motivation. By creating a more resource-rich and responsive intervention space, this grant will directly impact reading fluency, comprehension, and overall academic growth for students most at risk of falling behind. As a K–5 reading interventionist, I work with struggling readers who need targeted, engaging support to build foundational literacy skills.”
PSTA Director of Teacher Leadership Craig King surprised Ms. Hunt at her school on August 14th with the exciting news that her grant was chosen as a winner!
